i used to work at a law firm. 난 로펌에서 일 했었어요. (그러나 지금은 아니다)

he`s a politician now, but he used to be an actor. 그는 지금은 정치인이지만, 예전에는 배우였어요.

 

suddenly i`m not half the man i used to be. 갑자기 난 반쪽도 아니게 됐습니다. 

Vanessa used to live in New York. 베네사는 예전에 뉴욕에서 살았어요.

My mother used to read me stories before bed every night. 엄마는 매일밤 잠자기전에 책을 읽어주시곤 했어요

(Read me stories = 이야기를 읽어주다. before bed = 잠자기 전)
